Applicants planning to apply for a VETASSESS Professional Skills Assessment should be aware that the new assessment fees have taken effect today, 9 September 2026.
VETASSESS has increased the fees for Professional Skills Assessments and several related services, including:
- Full Skills Assessments
- Priority Processing
- Points Test Advice
- Subclass 485 assessments
- Post-485 assessments
- Reviews and reassessments
- Appeals
- Skills Assessment renewals
According to VETASSESS, the fees have increased in line with movements in inflation and Australian Government guidance.
Onshore and Offshore Fees
For simplicity, the tables below refer to:
- Onshore fees: Fees including 10% GST for applicants who are Australian residents for tax purposes.
- Offshore fees: Fees excluding GST for applicants who are not Australian residents for tax purposes.
An applicant’s GST liability depends on their Australian tax residency status, not only on whether they are physically inside or outside Australia.

Can You Still Apply at the Previous Fee?
No. The previous fees applied only to applications received before 9 September 2026.
All eligible applications received by VETASSESS from 9 September 2026 onwards are subject to the new fee schedule.
Applicants should carefully check their qualifications, employment documents, position descriptions and supporting evidence before submitting an application. Missing, inconsistent or unverifiable evidence may delay the assessment or affect the outcome.
Does This Fee Increase Apply to Trade Occupations?
No. VETASSESS has confirmed that this particular fee increase does not apply to trade occupation assessments.
These changes mainly apply to Professional Skills Assessments and associated services. Applicants seeking an assessment for a trade occupation should check the separate fees and requirements for their applicable assessment pathway.
Preparing for a VETASSESS Skills Assessment
Before submitting an application, applicants should confirm that:
- The nominated occupation is appropriate for their qualifications and employment experience;
- Their qualification meets the required educational level and relevance;
- Their employment duties closely match the nominated occupation;
- Their employment evidence is genuine, consistent and independently verifiable;
- All required documents have been prepared in the correct format; and
- The correct assessment service has been selected.
Applicants should not choose an occupation based only on their job title. VETASSESS generally considers the applicant’s actual duties, level of responsibility, qualification relevance and supporting evidence when assessing an application.
